Jarrod Lowe

Hi, I’m Jarrod, an Industrial Designer focused on creating products that balance function and aesthetics. My design approach is driven by a deep curiosity about how things work, using that understanding to inform and enhance my design outcomes.

I’m passionate about the entire design process from developing early ideas and refining concepts to producing prototypes and complete products. I enjoy hands-on making and continuously expanding my technical skills, having explored 3D printing and welding, with a growing interest in metal fabrication and advanced manufacturing techniques.

I have a strong connection to the automotive sector, particularly performance-driven and off-road vehicle design. This passion influences my approach to problem-solving, where durability, efficiency, and adaptability are key elements in creating purposeful, high-performing products.

QSRS (Quick Swap Response System)

This self-initiated project was developed through research into the CFA Ultra-Light Unit, where I identified a challenge with the vehicle’s overall usability. In rural areas, these units experience significant downtime during flood or wet seasons. This design addresses that issue by introducing a hot-swapping system that allows modules on the back of the vehicle to be quickly and easily exchanged, enabling the unit to adapt to a wide range of emergency situations.

Tunnel Table

This Coffee table was designed with the brief to create a piece of furniture that revolves around some form of pet. With my friend owning ferrets, I decided I wanted to create a coffee table that ferrets could play in. It's inspired by a bit of architecture for a modern luxury house with its aesthetic. Then, with research into ferrets, it's found that they like hammocks, tunnels, dark spaces and a rice pit. So, with this knowledge, I integrated them all into the design, making it almost a home for them and a useful coffee table with a drawer, a room behind it walled off for the ferrets to hide in, and a ramp for access into the coffee table.

Float

Float is a dog bowl designed for an industry partner, Country Road, with the brief of creating some form of food or drinking solution for dogs that fits with their brand's aesthetic and their customer base. So I went with an organic shape with a shadow gap as an added detail, while also adding a float plate to help dogs slow down when drinking from the water bowl.

Lumi-Teir

Designed for industry partner, About Space, which wanted a light designed using felt as the main material for the shades and styles due to their acoustic property. So I designed a pendant light with a 2 tone felt shade. with brass brackets to hold the felt and add another accent to the simple design.

Aurora 360

The Aurora 360 is a solar light that was designed with the project brief of designing a solar light for camping, using the internals of an existing solar light. This light is a disk shape with a light ring that gives it a full 360 range of light being emitted. It's able to be charged on the cars dash then when at camp can be thrown on the ground as some path lights or small area lights.
