Nico Andiko

Hi! My name is Nico.

I’ve recently completed my Bachelor of Design, majoring in Architecture.

Before studying architecture, I completed a Diploma of Design with a focus on graphic design, while also working on various graphic and photography projects. My approach to design is driven by the goal of creating meaningful impact not just spaces that look good, but spaces that respond to how people live and interact.

Throughout my studies, I’ve developed a strong attention to detail and a focus on designing projects that are both visually refined while also practically buildable. Understanding construction details and how design translates into real-world outcomes has always been something I strive for.

Studio 5: Nex Museum

Exterior Render

Located in Newport, Nex Museum is a collaborative learning and exhibition space inspired by our personal journeys in architecture. Coming from different educational pathways, TAFE for my group member and a Diploma of Design for myself, we each developed unique skills and perspectives.

Studio 5: Nex Museum

Interior Render

Nex Museum unites these different pathways into one collaborative space by creating a place where students from different disciplines can come together to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and foster creativity through collaboration.

Studio 5: Nex Museum

Hero Render and Sectional Perspective

The materials used for the museum combine elements of Newport’s history and its surroundings, such as The Substation building, with a touch of modern design. Brick and polycarbonate are used together to reflect the area’s past while bringing in a lighter, more contemporary look.

BIM: AMDC Retrofit

Workshop: Interior Render, Existing Condition, Program Axonometric, and Elevation

This subject focuses on professional practice, exploring cloud collaboration and workflows using Revit and Autodesk Cloud. Our task was to retrofit the AMDC building, and I was allocated Level 05. My proposal introduces a workshop area beside the studio classrooms to improve model storage, provide same-building workshop access, and activate the underutilised workshop space, including the rarely used laser cutter.

Studio 3: Dorcas Street Residential Retrofit

Urban Context Axonometric, Interior Key Moment and Wall Feature Assembly

Studio 3 focused on retrofitting an existing building through construction detail and computational design approaches, implementing changes to its facade and program while utilising Grasshopper for parametric exploration and performance analysis.
